The incident occurred during Sonu’s concert in the city, where a cheerful atmosphere suddenly shifted when a boy from the crowd repeatedly shouted, “Sing in Kannada, Kannada!”
Visibly upset by the interruption, Sonu responded sharply, saying, “This is the reason what happened in Pahalgam,” referencing a past incident that appeared to relate to disrespect or forced cultural expectations.
He further added, “By the way, I’ve been singing Kannada songs before he was even born. Some of the best songs I’ve sung in my life are in Kannada.”
The comment has sparked debate online, with many supporting Sonu for standing up for artistic freedom, while others believe the reaction was too strong for a fan’s request.
