In a stunning revelation, Turkey, despite its past friendship with India, has allegedly provided Pakistan with drones used in a recent attack on Indian soil. This development has raised serious concerns about Turkey’s role in regional geopolitics.
In 2023, Turkey was hit by a devastating earthquake that caused widespread damage across the country. In response, India extended a helping hand through Operation Dost, sending Indian Army personnel and relief supplies worth $845,590 to assist in rescue and recovery efforts. The aid was a symbol of India’s commitment to helping those in need, irrespective of borders.

However, just a year later, the goodwill between the two nations appears to have soured. On Thursday, Pakistan attempted to launch an aerial assault using approximately 400 drones targeting multiple locations from Siachen (Ladakh) to Kutch (Gujarat). The Indian Army, which successfully neutralized all the drones, identified many of these drones as being of Turkish origin.

Indian defense officials revealed that these drones were equipped with surveillance cameras, likely aimed at gathering intelligence on Indian military positions. The attack, although thwarted, has sparked outrage in India, with many questioning Turkey’s motives and its apparent betrayal of India’s past aid efforts.

The Turkish-made drones’ involvement in the attack has drawn condemnation from Indian political leaders and defense experts alike. Critics argue that Turkey’s actions amount to a betrayal, especially after India’s substantial contribution to relief efforts following the Turkish earthquake.
India’s Ministry of Defense has called this act “reckless” and warned that it would not be tolerated. As of now, the situation remains tense, with further diplomatic exchanges expected in the coming days.
India continues to monitor the situation closely, ensuring its national security and upholding its commitment to peace and cooperation in the region.
