IPL 2025: Faf and KL Rahul Fall Early as Delhi Capitals Struggle in Chase Against Mumbai Indians

Delhi Capitals’ hopes of chasing down 181 runs were dealt a major blow early on as openers Faf du Plessis and KL Rahul departed cheaply against a fiery Mumbai Indians pace attack in their IPL 2025 clash.

Sent in to open the innings, Faf looked uncomfortable from the outset and fell for just 6 runs, attempting a risky lofted shot that found the fielder at long-off. His opening partner KL Rahul followed soon after, edging a rising delivery from Jasprit Bumrah into the gloves of the keeper for 9 runs.

With just 17 runs on the board and two wickets down inside the first three overs, DC found themselves in deep trouble. MI’s bowlers, led by Bumrah and supported by Gerald Coetzee, applied relentless pressure with pace, movement, and sharp field placements.

Captain Rishabh Pant now carries the responsibility of steering the innings, with the middle order expected to mount a recovery.

🔹 Quick Score Update:

  • DC: 17/2 in 3 overs
  • Faf du Plessis – 6 (out at long-off)
  • KL Rahul – 9 (caught behind)

🔹 MI Bowling Impact:

  • Jasprit Bumrah: Lethal early strike
  • Gerald Coetzee: Tight lines building pressure

Delhi Capitals must now regroup quickly to stay alive in the playoff race.
