No Toll Charges for Two-Wheelers, Confirms NHAI

NHAI

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has officially clarified that it has no plans to impose toll charges on two-wheeler vehicles traveling on national highways.

This announcement comes in the wake of widespread rumors and media reports suggesting that tolls would soon be applicable to motorcycles and scooters using national roads.

In a statement issued today, NHAI dismissed these reports as false and misleading, stating, “There is no such proposal under consideration. News regarding toll collection from two-wheelers is baseless and incorrect.”

Currently, two-wheelers are exempt from paying toll charges on national highways across India, a policy that remains unchanged. The clarification aims to reassure vehicle owners and prevent misinformation from spreading further.

Transport experts and motorist associations have welcomed the NHAI’s clarification, calling it a relief for millions of commuters who rely on two-wheelers for daily transportation, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.

As of now, toll charges apply only to specific categories of vehicles such as four-wheelers, commercial trucks, and buses, in accordance with the guidelines under the National Highways Fee Rules.

The NHAI urged the public to rely only on official sources for updates and announcements regarding toll policies.
