Government Officials Distracted by Phones During Public Speaking Program

Telangana news express

In a recent public speaking event at the Nizamabad Collectorate, government officials were observed spending more time on their phones than focusing on the proceedings, raising concerns about their commitment to addressing public issues.

The event, known as “Prajavani,” is designed to provide a platform for citizens to voice their concerns and grievances. However, for some officials, it has turned into a casual affair, with their attention diverted towards social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, and online shopping.

Witnesses at the event noted that several district officials remained glued to their phones throughout the program, disregarding the purpose of the gathering. Instead of actively listening to public issues, they were seen browsing online stores and watching videos on social media.

This behavior not only reflects poorly on the officials’ professionalism but also undermines the significance of the event itself. While officials on stage should have been focused on receiving applications and addressing citizen concerns, those seated below were equally engrossed in their phones, neglecting their responsibilities.

Such distractions during a public speaking program, meant to facilitate communication between the government and its citizens, are alarming. They raise questions about the dedication of government employees towards serving the public and addressing their needs effectively.

It is imperative for government authorities to address this issue promptly and ensure that such events are conducted with the utmost professionalism and dedication to public service. Failure to do so risks further eroding public trust in government institutions and their ability to effectively address citizen concerns.
