Massive Mock Drills Conducted Across Hyderabad as Part of ‘Operation Abhyaas’

Mock Drills

The city of Hyderabad witnessed large-scale emergency preparedness drills today as part of Operation Abhyaas, a nationwide initiative aimed at enhancing civil defence readiness in light of recent security concerns.

Mock drills were conducted across four major locations in the city: NFC Moula Ali, Golconda, Secunderabad Cantonment, and DRDO Kanchanbagh. In addition to these, localized drills were also carried out at the Mayflower gated community in Mallapur.

The drills were held between 4:00 PM and 4:30 PM, during which sirens were sounded across the city to simulate an air raid scenario. Authorities had informed the public in advance, advising citizens not to panic and to treat the event as a standard preparedness exercise.

Organized by the Hyderabad City Police and supported by 12 emergency response units—including fire services, medical teams, and municipal authorities—Operation Abhyaas tested coordination among key departments during crisis situations.

Officials emphasized that these drills are purely precautionary and part of a proactive effort to strengthen the city’s disaster response infrastructure. Citizens were encouraged to participate and follow instructions for seeking shelter during the siren alerts.

With increasing global tensions and internal security challenges, city authorities reiterated the importance of such exercises to ensure the safety and awareness of the public in the event of real emergencies.
