A Muslim woman visiting the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya was detained by temple security on Thursday after exhibiting behavior that raised suspicion among the guards. The woman, identified as Irin from Wardha district in Maharashtra, was reportedly acting unusually and resisted routine security checks, prompting swift intervention by police.

According to security personnel, the woman had wrapped a blue cloth around her head and face and was alone during her visit to the temple. When asked to remove the face covering and provide identification, she allegedly became agitated and began arguing with the guards. Concerned by her conduct and adherence to security protocols, officials detained her for further questioning.

Upon being taken into custody, local police contacted her family, who reportedly informed authorities that Irin suffers from a mental health condition. She was later transferred to the Ram Janmabhoomi police station for verification and care.

A senior police officer stated, “There was no immediate threat identified, but due to her behavior and the sensitive nature of the site, we followed standard procedure. Her family has been cooperative and claims she is mentally unwell.”

The Ram Mandir in Ayodhya remains a high-security area following its inauguration in January 2024. With lakhs of pilgrims visiting daily, authorities have maintained heightened vigilance around the premises.

While there is no indication of malicious intent, the incident has sparked conversations about the importance of mental health awareness and the need for sensitive handling of such cases, particularly at religious and culturally significant locations.

Authorities confirmed that the woman is safe and under observation, and that no charges have been filed as of now. Further medical evaluation and family support are expected to guide the next steps in the case.
