A festive celebration of Sri Krishna Janmashtami turned into a scene of tragedy at Gokhale Nagar, Ramanthapur (Uppal, Hyderabad) on Sunday evening.
The incident took place during the idol procession when the chariot carrying Lord Krishna’s idol accidentally came into contact with high-tension power lines. The sudden electrocution left five devotees dead on the spot while four others sustained severe injuries.

- Suresh Yadav (34), son of Venkataiah
- Rudra Vikas (39)
- Rajendra Reddy (39)
The injured were immediately rushed to a private hospital, where doctors reported their condition to be critical.
