Hyderabad, May 3, 2025 – Telugu YouTuber Anvesh has found himself in legal trouble after Cyberabad police filed a case against him for allegedly spreading false information about senior government officials. The complaint, filed by the Cyberabad Cyber Crime Police, claims that Anvesh made baseless and defamatory allegations against top IAS and IPS officers, including Telangana DGP Jitender and Hyderabad Metro Rail MD NVS Reddy.
The controversy erupted when Anvesh, known for his popular travel vlogs, released a video in which he accused several high-ranking officials of being involved in a ₹300 crore illegal betting operation linked to the Hyderabad Metro. According to Anvesh, these officials allegedly permitted the promotion of betting apps inside the metro stations, leading to massive revenue for them.
The video quickly gained traction on social media, stirring public outrage and concerns about corruption within the government. However, authorities swiftly debunked the claims, pointing out that the video lacked any concrete evidence and was filled with misinformation.
The Cyberabad police, after reviewing the video, took suo motu action and registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Anvesh for spreading false allegations, which they believe were intended to damage the reputations of the senior officials.
