Virat Kohli and Rahul Vaidya’s Social Media Spat Escalates Over ‘Algorithm Glitch’ Incident

A lighthearted social media moment has escalated into a full-fledged online controversy involving Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli and popular singer Rahul Vaidya. The drama began when Kohli’s Instagram account appeared to “like” a post featuring influencer Avneet Kaur. Fans quickly took note, speculating on the cricketer’s online behavior.

Kohli later clarified that the “like” was unintentional and occurred while he was cleaning up his feed — attributing the action to a random “algorithm glitch.” The explanation did little to calm the storm, especially after Rahul Vaidya jumped in with a sarcastic Instagram video, mocking Kohli’s reasoning.

In the video, Vaidya joked that if Instagram’s algorithm starts liking pictures for him too, people shouldn’t blame him, particularly requesting women not to assume anything based on it. The clip went viral, and shortly after, Vaidya claimed that Kohli had blocked him on Instagram.

Taking the satire further, Vaidya quipped that the blocking must also have been an “algorithm glitch.” However, the joke didn’t go down well with Kohli’s massive fanbase. Vaidya reported receiving abusive messages — some even targeting his wife, actress Disha Parmar, and his sister.

In response to the trolling, Rahul Vaidya slammed the abusers, calling them “2 kaudi ke jokers” (worthless jokers), and clarified that while he respects Kohli’s cricketing career, he no longer sees him in the same light personally.

The incident reflects the fragile boundaries of humor, fandom, and reputation in today’s hyperactive digital world, where even a mistaken “like” can spiral into a national talking point. Neither Kohli nor his team has issued any further comments on the matter.
