Udhayanidhi Stalin, Tamil Nadu’s Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister, has been appointed as the new Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The official swearing-in ceremony will take place today at 3:30 pm at Raj Bhavan in Chennai.
The announcement comes as a significant political development within the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party, led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who is Udhayanidhi’s father. This move is seen as a major step forward for Udhayanidhi, who has been gaining influence in the party and Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
Along with Udhayanidhi, other council members are also expected to take their oath during the ceremony. Political analysts believe this reshuffle is part of a broader effort to solidify the party’s leadership structure ahead of upcoming elections.
Udhayanidhi Stalin, who is also an actor and producer, entered politics in 2019 and was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in 2021. His rapid rise within the party has attracted both support and criticism, with some praising his leadership potential while others view the appointment as a move to consolidate the Stalin family’s hold on Tamil Nadu’s politics.
The swearing-in ceremony at Raj Bhavan will be presided over by Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi, in the presence of senior DMK leaders and other prominent political figures.
This appointment further strengthens Udhayanidhi’s role within the state government and marks a significant moment in Tamil Nadu’s political history.
