IPL 2025 Set to Resume Next Week Amid Ceasefire, BCCI Faces Challenges with Overseas Players

After a week-long suspension triggered by rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to resume next week. The decision follows a formal ceasefire agreement between the two countries announced on May 10.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is working closely with franchises to coordinate the return of overseas players and support staff. Matches are expected to resume as early as Thursday or Friday.

The league was paused following disruptions and safety concerns around venues, particularly after a power outage incident during a match in Dharamsala. To ensure safety and limit travel, three venues—Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad—have been shortlisted to host the remaining 16 matches, including the playoffs.

One of the major hurdles facing the resumption is the return of international players, many of whom left the country amid the uncertainty. Franchise management remains hopeful that with tensions easing, players and coaches will return in time to complete the season.

The BCCI is also preparing contingency plans to adapt quickly in case of further developments. However, with current signs pointing toward stability, fans can look forward to the exciting final stretch of IPL 2025.
