A Pakistani national was shot dead by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on May 23 while attempting to illegally cross into Indian territory along the India-Pakistan border in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district.
According to an official statement released by the BSF, troops observed suspicious movement near the international border fence. The individual ignored repeated verbal warnings issued by the security personnel and continued to advance aggressively toward the fencing.
“In spite of clear warnings that he would be fired upon, the intruder did not stop and proceeded to rush towards the fencing. Our personnel were left with no choice but to open fire in self-defense,” the statement said.
The BSF has launched an investigation into the incident and is working with local authorities to identify the deceased. A thorough search operation was carried out in the area following the incident to rule out any further infiltration attempts.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns over illegal border crossings and the need for continued vigilance along India’s sensitive international boundaries. Security has been tightened in the region, and surveillance operations remain active to prevent any further breaches.
