Plane Crash

In one of the deadliest aviation tragedies in India’s history, the death toll from the catastrophic plane crash in Ahmedabad has climbed to 274, according to official sources. The devastating incident occurred on June 12, when a commercial aircraft crashed into a medical college building shortly after takeoff.

Authorities confirmed that 229 passengers and 12 crew members onboard the ill-fated flight perished in the crash. In a tragic turn, 33 people who were inside the medical college at the time also lost their lives as the aircraft tore through the upper floors of the building, igniting a massive fire.

Rescue and recovery efforts have been ongoing since the crash, with firefighters, emergency personnel, and disaster response teams working around the clock. Several injured survivors are being treated at nearby hospitals, and DNA testing is underway to identify victims whose remains were severely burned.

“We are doing everything possible to support the families of the deceased. This is a national tragedy,” said a senior Gujarat government official. The cause of the crash is under investigation, with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) launching a joint inquiry. Initial reports suggest a possible engine failure followed by a failed emergency landing attempt.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of horror as the plane descended sharply and exploded upon impact. Thick plumes of black smoke were seen rising from the crash site as screams echoed from the affected building.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu expressed their condolences and assured full support to the families of the victims. A state-wide mourning has been declared, and compensation is being arranged for those affected.

This tragic accident has reignited concerns over air safety and infrastructure placement near densely populated zones.
