Telugu actor likens the incident to ancient tribal clashes, drawing criticism from tribal associations

A complaint has been filed against Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda following controversial remarks he made regarding the Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir. The complaint was lodged at the SR Nagar police station in Hyderabad by city-based lawyer Lal Chauhan, who accused the actor of making derogatory comments about tribal communities.

The incident occurred during the pre-release event of a Tamil movie, where Deverakonda had been invited as the chief guest. In his speech, the actor likened the Pahalgam attack, which involved the killing of Indian Army soldiers and security personnel, to ancient tribal clashes that occurred hundreds of years ago.

Chauhan’s complaint alleges that the comments were disrespectful to tribal communities, and demanded that Deverakonda apologize for his words. Tribal associations have expressed strong objection to his remarks, condemning them as an unfair comparison and an insult to tribal cultures.

“Deverakonda’s statement demeans our community,” said a representative from one of the tribal associations. “Such comments are not only insensitive but also promote stereotypes that harm our social fabric.”

The SR Nagar police have confirmed that they are reviewing the complaint and will take necessary legal action based on legal opinions. “We will proceed with the case as per the law,” said a police official, adding that the investigation is ongoing.

As of now, Vijay Deverakonda has not made any public statements regarding the controversy, and his response to the situation remains awaited.

This incident has sparked a larger conversation on social media and among tribal rights groups about the responsibility of public figures in the way they address sensitive issues related to communities and historical events.
