Delhi Capitals’ Mukesh Kumar Fined for Breach of IPL Code of Conduct

Delhi Capitals pacer Mukesh Kumar has been fined 10% of his match fee and handed one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the team’s recent defeat against Mumbai Indians. The disciplinary action was announced following the match held at Wankhede Stadium on May 21.

The breach, classified as a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2, involves the abuse of cricket equipment or ground fixtures. Mukesh admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by match referee Daniel Manohar, making the penalty final and binding.

In the high-stakes encounter, Mukesh conceded 48 runs in his four overs, including a particularly expensive 19th over where he gave away 27 runs to Mumbai Indians batsmen Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir. Despite taking two wickets in the match, his costly bowling spell contributed to Delhi Capitals’ 59-run defeat, which effectively ended their hopes of progressing to the playoffs.

The fine and demerit point serve as a reminder of the strict discipline expected from players in the Indian Premier League, especially during tense moments on the field. Mukesh’s admission of the breach reflects his commitment to uphold the league’s standards.

Delhi Capitals will now regroup as the IPL 2025 season nears its conclusion, aiming to finish strong despite being out of playoff contention.
