FWICE Moves to Ban Diljit Dosanjh, Sardaar Ji 3 Over Casting Pakistani Actress Hania Aamir

In a major controversy shaking the Punjabi film industry, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has announced its decision to ban actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh and the producers of the upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3 in India. The move comes in response to the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, who recently sparked outrage with her remarks against India’s military operation “Sindoor”.

FWICE President BN Tiwari confirmed to India Today that the federation plans to issue an official directive barring Diljit and the filmmakers from shooting, screening, or releasing the film in India. The film is now set to release only overseas, without a theatrical or OTT release in the Indian market.

Hania Aamir, who gained popularity through dramas and digital content in Pakistan, made strong anti-India statements on social media following Operation Sindoor, calling it “cowardly” and “inhumane.” Her comments triggered widespread criticism and renewed calls to boycott collaborations with Pakistani artists.

Sardaar Ji 3, the latest installment in the popular franchise, features Hania Aamir in a lead role opposite Diljit. Although the film’s trailer has been widely circulated online, it has been geo-blocked in India and won’t be submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

FWICE reiterated its long-standing policy that no Indian artist or producer should collaborate with Pakistani talent, given the tense relations between the two countries. Tiwari emphasized that “the federation will not support any individual or production house that undermines national sentiment by engaging with those who speak against India.”

As Sardaar Ji 3 prepares for its international release on June 27, the controversy has sparked debate on artistic freedom, national policy, and the boundaries of cross-border cultural exchange. Neither Diljit Dosanjh nor the producers have publicly responded to the ban at the time of writing.
