Security has been significantly tightened in the holy town of Tirumala following rising tensions between India and Pakistan. In response to intelligence alerts issued by central agencies, elite OCTOPUS (Organisation for Counter Terrorist Operations) commandos have been deployed to ensure safety and preparedness in the region.
According to official sources, the central intelligence agencies issued specific warnings regarding the potential threat to important religious sites and crowded areas. Acting swiftly on these inputs, Andhra Pradesh police, in coordination with national security agencies, mobilized the elite OCTOPUS unit to guard the Tirumala temple and its surroundings.
The deployment includes increased patrolling, enhanced surveillance, and round-the-clock monitoring through CCTV networks and drone support. Pilgrims have been advised to cooperate with authorities, with additional checks being carried out at entry points and queue complexes.
Speaking to the media, a senior police official said, “This is a precautionary measure. There is no specific threat to Tirumala, but we are leaving no room for risk, especially during such sensitive times.”
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board has assured devotees that all temple activities will continue as usual and that safety remains a top priority.
This move follows similar heightened security arrangements at other strategic locations across the country in light of recent cross-border incidents. Authorities have appealed to the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
