Mumbai Indians Lose 5 Wickets Amid Gujarat Titans’ Comeback in IPL 2025 Clash

Gujarat Titan

Mumbai Indians (MI) suffered a mid-innings collapse, losing 5 key wickets in their IPL 2025 clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) at Wankhede Stadium on Monday evening. Despite a solid start, dropped catches by GT early in the powerplay nearly gave MI a strong platform — but the Titans bounced back quickly with disciplined bowling and sharp fielding to claw their way back into the match.

The evening began with MI openers Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma at the crease. However, Mohammed Siraj struck early to remove Rickelton, with Sai Sudharsan taking a smart catch at short cover. Rohit, who had been in sublime form this season, was dismissed for a rare low score, falling to Arshad Khan’s left-arm pace — his first single-digit innings in nine matches.

Despite the early setbacks, Will Jacks and Suryakumar Yadav provided some resistance. Jacks played a fluent innings, reaching a brisk half-century, while Suryakumar looked in fine touch with 35 off 24 balls. But just when Mumbai seemed to be building momentum, both batters fell in quick succession. Jacks was removed by Rashid Khan, and Suryakumar edged one to Shahrukh Khan off the bowling of Sai Kishore.

Ryan Rickelton – Dismissed early in the innings by Mohammed Siraj, caught by Sai Sudharsan at short cover.

Rohit Sharma – Fell to left-arm pacer Arshad Khan during the powerplay, registering his first single-digit score in nine matches this season.

Suryakumar Yadav – After a promising start, he was dismissed for 35 runs off 24 balls, caught by Shahrukh Khan off the bowling of Sai Kishore.

Will Jacks – Scored a brisk 53 before being dismissed by Rashid Khan.

Hardik Pandya

The pressure mounted further when Hardik Pandya, returning to face his former team, failed to leave an impact. He was dismissed cheaply, leaving Mumbai Indians reeling at 5 wickets down before the 15-over mark.

GT skipper Shubman Gill looked relieved as his bowlers turned things around after a shaky fielding start that saw three catches dropped in the powerplay. The Titans’ bowlers tightened their lines and lengths, backed by improved fielding efforts in the middle overs.

At this stage, MI will be looking to their lower order to steady the innings and post a defendable total, while Gujarat Titans will aim to maintain pressure and restrict further damage.

This match remains evenly poised, but the Titans’ ability to recover from early fielding blunders and put Mumbai on the back foot with timely wickets could prove crucial in the final outcome.
