Rupali Ganguly Slams Fawad Khan Over Operation Sindoor Remarks; AICWA Reaffirms Ban on Pakistani Actors

Popular Indian actress and BJP leader Rupali Ganguly has lashed out at Pakistani actor Fawad Khan for his critical comments on India’s recent military action, Operation Sindoor. The row has sparked fresh debate around cultural ties amid tense India-Pakistan relations.

Fawad Khan, known for his roles in several Bollywood films, described Operation Sindoor as a “shameful attack” in a now-deleted social media post. In a strong response, Rupali Ganguly took to X (formerly Twitter) saying, “You working in India was also ‘shameful’ for us.” Ganguly, widely recognized for her role in the television series Anupamaa, has received widespread support from fans and public figures alike for standing up against what many see as anti-India sentiment.

The controversy has prompted the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) to reiterate its long-standing ban on Pakistani actors and filmmakers. In an official statement, the association said, “AICWA strongly condemns the anti-India statements made by Pakistani actors Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan. We stand by the nation and will not allow any collaboration with Pakistani artists.”

The association also urged Indian production houses and OTT platforms to refrain from hiring or promoting any Pakistani talent. “At a time when our soldiers are protecting the nation, any voice that disrespects their sacrifices must be condemned,” said AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta.

The exchange comes amid escalating tensions between the two countries following Operation Sindoor, India’s cross-border military strike in response to recent security threats.

While the Indian film industry has occasionally opened its doors to talent from across the border, current sentiment appears firmly against any such collaboration—at least for the foreseeable future.
