The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has strongly condemned a recent video released by popular YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, accusing him of misrepresenting Sikh history and distorting key historical facts.
SGPC General Secretary Gurcharan Singh Grewal called upon the government to take immediate action against Rathee, stating that the video has hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community. He criticized Rathee’s use of AI-generated content, saying that Sikhs do not need such artificial means to learn about their rich and authentic history.
In his statement, Grewal specifically pointed out inaccuracies related to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s martyrdom and Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, saying the video presented misleading information that could confuse viewers and spread false narratives.
The SGPC, which is the top religious body for Sikhs, emphasized the importance of respecting historical facts and cultural sensitivities, especially when addressing matters of faith and sacrifice.
The controversy has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many users expressing concern over the potential impact of AI-based storytelling on historical accuracy.
Authorities have not yet responded publicly to the SGPC’s demand.
