Supreme Court

In a strongly worded rebuke, the Supreme Court of India has condemned Madhya Pradesh BJP Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah for making offensive remarks against Colonel Sofia Qureshi, a decorated officer in the Indian Armed Forces.

During the hearing, the apex court expressed its outrage, stating:

“The entire nation hangs its head in shame because of your comments. As a public representative, one must speak with utmost responsibility.”

In response to the seriousness of the incident, the court has ordered the constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising three IPS officers, including one woman officer, to conduct a detailed inquiry.

The Supreme Court has directed the SIT to submit its report by May 28, ensuring that accountability is maintained and such behavior is not repeated by elected officials.

The remarks have sparked widespread criticism across the country, with many expressing support for Colonel Sofia Qureshi and hailing the court’s intervention as a necessary step to uphold respect for members of the armed forces.
