In a chilling and heartbreaking case that has shocked the nation, a 24-year-old woman named Muskan has confessed to poisoning her two young children—5-year-old Arhan and 1-year-old Enaya—in order to eliminate what she called “obstacles” in her love affair with another man.
The incident took place in Rodkali village of Muzaffarnagar district. Muskan, whose husband Waseem works in Chandigarh, allegedly laced sweets (rasgullas) with poison and fed them to her children on June 19. Both children died shortly after consuming the poisoned food. An autopsy later confirmed poisoning as the cause of death.
During interrogation by the local police, Muskan confessed that she was involved in an illicit relationship with a man named Junaid and wanted to start a new life with him. According to police officials, Muskan and Junaid had even planned a honeymoon after the children were “out of the way.”
“She admitted that the children were becoming a hurdle in her love life,” said a senior police officer. “Her confession is both disturbing and tragic. She showed no remorse during questioning.”
Waseem, the children’s father, was away at work in Chandigarh when the incident occurred. He returned to Muzaffarnagar upon hearing of the children’s deaths and has been left devastated by the news.
Muskan has been arrested and charged with double murder, while police are actively searching for Junaid, who is currently absconding.
This case has triggered widespread outrage and grief across Uttar Pradesh and beyond, with many calling for the harshest punishment possible under the law
