Protesters Demand Karachi Bakery to Change Its Name in Visakhapatnam

A group of protesters from the Janajagarana Samithi staged a demonstration in front of Karachi Bakery in the Venkajipalem area of Visakhapatnam, demanding that the bakery change its name immediately.

The protesters questioned the use of the name “Karachi,” which is a major city in Pakistan. They argued that having a business with such a name in India is inappropriate and offensive, especially considering the history between the two countries.

Speaking to the media, members of the group said, “Why should an Indian bakery be named after a city in Pakistan? It sends the wrong message.” They urged the bakery management to change the name without delay.

The Janajagarana Samithi also warned that if the name is not changed soon, they will demand the central government take legal action, including possibly filing a sedition case against the owners.

The incident has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some supporting the protest and others calling it unnecessary. The bakery management has not yet responded to the demands.

This is not the first time Karachi Bakery has faced such protests in India. Similar controversies have arisen in the past in cities like Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

As of now, there is no official action taken by local authorities.
