In a major boost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) title ambitions, Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has rejoined the squad ahead of the IPL 2025 playoffs. The right-arm pacer, who had been recovering from a shoulder injury, arrived in Lucknow on Sunday morning after completing rehabilitation in Brisbane.
Hazlewood had been in excellent form before his injury, picking up 18 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 17.28. His return comes at a critical time as RCB prepares for a high-pressure playoff run in their pursuit of a maiden IPL title. Known for his accuracy and calm under pressure, Hazlewood adds much-needed depth and experience to RCB’s bowling attack.
Speaking to the media, Hazlewood said, “It’s obviously great to be back. I made the most of the last week in Brisbane and bowled quite a few overs. Everything is feeling very good. Looking forward to practice and helping the team in the playoffs.”
RCB’s official social media welcomed him back with a post captioned, “Josh Hazlewood is back! How excited are we, 12th Man Army?” The reaction from fans has been overwhelmingly positive, with many calling his return the final piece of the puzzle for the team’s playoff campaign.
RCB will play their final league match against Lucknow Super Giants on May 27, after which they will head into the playoffs. With Hazlewood back in the lineup, RCB looks stronger than ever and will be hoping to carry the momentum all the way to the final.
