Gulzar Houz

In the wake of a tragic fire incident at Hyderabad’s Gulzar Houz, where 17 members of a single family lost their lives, the Telangana government has constituted a six-member high-level committee to investigate the cause of the blaze and recommend strong preventive measures.

The fire, which broke out in a residential building near the historic Charminar, is believed to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit, leading to a swift and deadly spread of flames.

State Minister and Hyderabad in-charge Ponnam Prabhakar announced the formation of the probe panel, stating that the government is committed to uncovering the full facts of the tragedy and ensuring such incidents are not repeated.

🔍 Committee Members:

  • GHMC Commissioner – RV Karnan
  • Hyderabad District Collector – Anudeep Durisetty
  • Hyderabad Police Commissioner – CV Anand
  • Director General of Fire Services – Nagi Reddy
  • Hyderabad Commissioner (HYDRA) – Ranganath
  • CMD, TGSPDCL – Musharraf

The committee is tasked with conducting a comprehensive investigation and submitting actionable recommendations on fire safety compliance, particularly in high-density and heritage zones of Hyderabad.

The government’s response comes amid mounting public outcry and demands for accountability over poor fire preparedness and lax enforcement of building safety norms.
