In a strategic mid-season move, Mumbai Indians (MI) have signed Jonny Bairstow as a replacement for Will Jacks, who is departing the IPL due to national duty. This signing comes ahead of the crucial playoff stage of IPL 2025.
Bairstow, the explosive English wicketkeeper-batter, brings a wealth of IPL experience, having played for franchises like Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the past. Known for his aggressive batting and adaptability, his addition is expected to strengthen MI’s top order and provide a much-needed edge in their playoff campaign.
Alongside Bairstow, MI also brought in Sri Lankan captain Charith Asalanka and England’s Richard Gleeson, replacing Ryan Rickelton and Corbin Bosch respectively—both of whom have left to fulfill international commitments.
The Mumbai Indians are currently pushing for a playoff berth, and the management believes these changes will solidify their chances as they enter the final phase of the tournament.
