Shreyas Ayaluri, a talented screenwriter originally from Hyderabad, has won the prestigious Audience Choice Award at a prominent Los Angeles-based film festival for his short film The Serene Place.

The film, directed by Shriya Rana, is an absurdist satire that follows an immigrant film school graduate navigating the surreal challenges of breaking into Hollywood. It resonated strongly with audiences for its sharp critique of the entertainment industry and its unique storytelling style.

Shreyas moved to the United States in 2018 to pursue his dream of screenwriting. Since then, he has gained recognition in notable international competitions, including Final Draft’s Big Break and the Austin Film Festival. His body of work includes short films such as A Mother’s Battle, Eclipsed Innocence, and Cupid’s Curse.

The Serene Place marks a significant milestone in his creative journey. The film not only showcases his signature narrative voice but also reflects the collaborative energy of a diverse creative team. Both Shreyas and director Shriya Rana are alumni of a reputed entertainment studies program in Los Angeles, which played a key role in shaping their careers.
