The historic city of Hyderabad played host to the Miss World contestants today, with key cultural events planned at iconic heritage locations. As part of their India tour, the beauty pageant finalists participated in a Heritage Walk around the Charminar and later attended a royal dinner at the Chowmahalla Palace.
In view of the high-profile visit and public interest, Hyderabad police implemented stringent traffic restrictions in the Old City area. From 2 PM to 11 PM, several key roads were completely closed to traffic, including Madina, Charminar, Shalibanda, Volga Junction, and Khilwat Road.
In an unusual move, authorities also directed the closure of shops around the Charminar as a security precaution and to ensure a smooth flow of the event.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police issued an advisory urging commuters to avoid the affected routes and opt for alternative travel arrangements. Additional forces were deployed across the region to manage crowds and maintain law and order.
The Miss World contestants, representing various countries, were seen exploring the heritage site, interacting with locals, and enjoying traditional Hyderabadi hospitality — adding a global spotlight to one of India’s most iconic landmarks.
