In a major development for cricket fans, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that the remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 will now be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The decision follows growing security concerns in Pakistan, particularly after a drone-related incident near the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium earlier this week.

The PSL, which is currently in its playoff stage, will see the rest of the season—including the semifinals and final—played across UAE venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi addressed the media, saying, “We were left with no choice but to ensure the safety of players, officials, and fans. The current environment in the region demands responsible action. The UAE has always been a reliable partner and has world-class facilities to host the league.”

This isn’t the first time the PSL has been held abroad. Several earlier seasons—especially during the early years of the league—were hosted in the UAE due to security challenges in Pakistan. However, recent editions had marked a successful return of top-flight cricket to Pakistani soil, with enthusiastic crowds filling stadiums in Lahore, Karachi, Multan, and Rawalpindi.

The sudden relocation has created logistical challenges for franchises, broadcasters, and sponsors, but all six PSL teams have expressed support for the decision. International players have also been reassured regarding their safety and are expected to travel to the UAE in the coming days.

Fans who had purchased tickets for the Rawalpindi and Lahore fixtures will be offered refunds or priority booking options for the UAE-leg of the tournament, the PCB confirmed.

Despite the disruption, the board is committed to delivering a high-quality tournament finish. “Our fans deserve a thrilling conclusion to PSL 2025, and we will ensure they get it—no matter the location,” added Naqvi.

Revised match schedules and ticketing details are expected to be released within the next 48 hours.
