RCB’s Open Bus Victory Parade Cancelled in Bengaluru Due to Traffic Concerns

IPL

In a major disappointment for fans, the much-anticipated open bus victory parade for IPL 2025 champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has been cancelled. The decision was taken following objections from the Bengaluru Traffic Police, citing concerns over massive crowd gatherings, traffic congestion, and logistical challenges in the city.

RCB, who secured their maiden IPL title after a thrilling six-run victory over Punjab Kings in the final at Ahmedabad, were scheduled to celebrate their win with fans along a parade route from Vidhana Soudha to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium this evening. However, the city police expressed inability to manage the potential chaos in the high-security and high-traffic zones during weekday hours.

Instead, the team will now participate in a felicitation ceremony at Chinnaswamy Stadium from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM IST. Entry to this event is limited to those holding valid passes or tickets, with authorities urging attendees to use public transport due to restricted parking facilities around the stadium.

The cancellation has sparked frustration among thousands of RCB supporters, many of whom had been eagerly awaiting this historic celebration. Social media is flooded with disappointed messages from fans using hashtags like #LetUsCelebrate and #RCBVictoryParadeCancelled.

Local MP Tejasvi Surya also criticized the decision, tweeting, “Bengaluru deserved this moment. After 18 years of loyalty, the least the fans could get was a proper celebration. Couldn’t the city have planned this better?”

Despite the cancellation, excitement remains high as the city prepares to welcome back its victorious squad. The Bengaluru Metro has announced extended services around the stadium area to help manage the fan turnout.

While the parade may have been shelved, the spirit of the RCB fandom remains unshaken. For the players and fans alike, this win remains a historic milestone, and the celebrations—though scaled down—are far from over.
