In a rare gesture of professional accountability, popular Telugu actor Siddhu Jonnalagadda has returned ₹4.75 crore—half of his remuneration—for the film Jack to producer BVSN Prasad, following the film’s dismal performance at the box office.
Jack, which released on April 10, 2025, was directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar and expected to be a major commercial venture. However, the film failed to strike a chord with audiences and critics alike, and was pulled from most theatres within a few days of its release. Reports estimate that the film grossed only ₹7.91 crore in India and ₹0.38 crore globally, falling drastically short of its production and promotional costs.
Taking moral responsibility for the financial setback, Siddhu chose to refund a substantial portion of his fee to the producer. His public relations team confirmed the development via social media, posting:

This act has drawn widespread praise across Tollywood, with industry insiders and fans commending Siddhu’s integrity and sense of responsibility—qualities rarely seen in the film industry where actors are typically paid upfront, regardless of a movie’s commercial outcome.
The failure of Jack was particularly surprising, given Siddhu’s rising stardom after the massive success of Tillu Square. Industry analysts suggest that the film’s lackluster screenplay and execution, despite strong pre-release buzz, contributed to its downfall.
Siddhu is now focusing on his next big project, Telusu Kada, directed by Neeraja Kona, which features Raashii Khanna and Srinidhi Shetty in lead roles. The romantic drama is scheduled for release on October 17, 2025, and is already generating positive buzz among fans.
