Trump Offers to Help Resolve India-Pakistan Kashmir Issue, Pledges Increased Trade

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his intention to assist in resolving the long-standing Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan. In a recent statement, Trump claimed he could help bring an end to the issue that has persisted for over a thousand years.

Trump posted on his Truth Social account, stating, “I will help solve the India-Pakistan Kashmir issue that’s been going on for a thousand years. I will also increase trade with both nations. God bless both of you.”

This statement comes at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan have been high, especially after a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, which resulted in multiple civilian casualties. Both countries responded with military actions, and the situation led to calls for international mediation.

Trump’s offer of assistance aims to bring the two nations to the negotiating table. While the U.S. has often played a role in diplomatic efforts in the region, India has traditionally been cautious about third-party involvement in Kashmir, emphasizing that it is a bilateral issue.

In addition to the Kashmir conflict, Trump highlighted his desire to increase trade between India and Pakistan, a move he believes would help strengthen the economic ties between the two countries. He remarked, “We will increase trade substantially with both of these great nations.”

The former president’s comments were made in the context of a fragile ceasefire that has recently been brokered between the two nations. Both governments have expressed a willingness to explore peace talks, though the path to a lasting resolution remains uncertain.

Trump’s remarks have stirred diplomatic discussions, with some experts noting the complexity of any potential role the U.S. might play in resolving the Kashmir issue. India and Pakistan have historically disagreed on the terms of any external mediation.

As the situation in Kashmir continues to evolve, Trump’s offer to help and his focus on improving trade ties may shape future diplomatic conversations in the region.
